Islanders looking to renovate their homes now have a better chance of getting some financial help.
The province announced changes to P.E.I.'s home renovation program Wednesday.
Homeowners can now receive $6,000 grants, instead of $12,000 loans.
The program will also be based on income now, instead of on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Doug Currie, Minister of Family and Human Services says it means more Islanders can now take advantage of the program.
"This time over last year, we'll be doubling the intake, from 75 applicants to 175 applicants," said Currie.
"The application process has been opened up and we'll be able to provide a more open, transparent program which will be more accessible."
The program will also give $8000 grants to help people with disabilities renovate their homes.
Islanders can apply for the program until Nov.13, and applications will open again in the spring.
